Ponziani Opening

The Ponziani Opening is a white opening that orginated in the year 1497. Today it is not widely played, as it is undermined by more popular openings: Ruy Lopez and Italian game. Thus, not many people will be prepared to play against this opening, and it may widen a few eyes.

The Ponziani Opening may seem passive and ill played for white. However, it is rarely defended well  by black. There are numerous traps  white can create to trap black.
